The music department have lots happening over the next few weeks and would love to welcome parents, Old Novaportans and members of the local community to join at one or all of our events.

The Christmas Concert takes place on Thursday 8th December at 7.30pm in the Hamilton Hall. The first half of the concert will be instrumental items from the Orchestra and some of the smaller ensembles. After the interval, the students who went on the recent Music Tour to Australia will entertain you with the music they performed on tour. This is a lively collection of medleys, arranged by music teacher Jim Wynn, featuring the Beatles, Bond, Jesus Christ Superstar and some Latin numbers. Their performance was very well received in Australia, and we are sure you will enjoy it as well!

Tickets for the Christmas Concert cost £5.00 each and they are now on sale from Mrs Coomer in the Coach House.

The Family Carol Service takes place on Thursday 15th December in the Sports Hall starting at 6pm. The Choir and the Orchestra will be performing. In addition, the whole of Year 7 will be forming a mass choir to sing some of the songs they have been learning in their class lessons. Everyone is welcome to join us for the Carol Service. There is no charge and tickets are not required.

You are invited to join us after the Carol Service in the Dining Room, where Adams’ FM (friends of the Music Department) will be serving mulled wine and mince pies (non-alcoholic refreshments available). Members of the choir, orchestra and Year 7 choir will join forces to entertain you with some jolly Christmas songs!

Tickets for mulled wine and mince pies cost £4.00 (children free) and they are available from the School Office. We are grateful to Adams’ FM for organising the refreshments. Donations of mince pies and raffle prizes would be gratefully received and can be brought to the School Office.

We hope to see you at one or both of these events.
