AGSS News
Another successful AGSS Race Night with nearly 200 people attending - half of them children (and many of our French Exchange students) enjoying the fun in the Performing Arts Centre on Friday 26th March.
We made £1,062 on the evening, which is fantastic - Thank you.
We were full to maximum capacity which made for a noisy and lively evening with everyone attending joining in the fun and chancing their luck on the races shown. Our very grateful thanks to Rob Mulhern, our compere for the evening and Matt Partridge who organised the tote and worked out the winnings. School pupils, Ryan Cattle, George Godon, George Poulteney and William Poulteney worked hard all evening taking the bets and making the payouts.
The Race Card with winners highlighted can be viewed from the link at the bottom of this page.
Adam Coomer from the Upper VI did a splendid job again this year in the AV galley playing the race DVDs and operating the sound system. In addition, Upper VI formers, Alex Poulteney, Tom Partridge, Tom Law and Richard Anthony coped with the very busy bar.
A break was held after Race 5 for light refreshments which was followed by a fun session of Irish Bingo for the children. The winners of the Irish Bingo were Louis, one of the French exchange students and Anya Tate. The free prize draw was won by Aylish Vaugham.

Mobile Phone Recycling - Fones4Schools - this is an excellent way to raise funds. Dig out those old phones now!!
Last year 36 phones were donated and recycled and raised a total of £90.00.
Please remember that AGSS is continuing to collect old and unwanted mobile phones in order to raise funds. The phones can be in any condition but please remove the SIM card and adaptors are not required. There are two collection boxes, one in reception and the other in the library.
AGSS Web Shop - Our new Fundraising idea
On behalf of the AGSS can we thank everyone who has used the school web shop (www.buy.at/AGSS) in the first few months of it's launch. As you may recall, when purchases are made through the site from the hundreds of retailers it links to, they pay commission. We have just had our first payment of £112.95 which will go towards benefitting the school and our pupils.
Please continue to do your on-line shopping through the link as it really helps towards school funds and doesn't cost any more than buying on line direct from the retailer. Summer holidays are just around the corner so perhaps you could find something from the Next, M&S and many other shops ready for the sun. There is free delivery from many retailers so please have a look if your favourite shops are featured and spread the word to your family and friends.
If you go online and have a look you will see this links to hundreds of retailers of all sorts of goods and services. If you first go to the website and then purchase something online, the retailer gives commission, typically around 5% to the school. The retailers charge you the same prices as on their main website and there are often discounts and free delivery offers shown on the www.buy.at/AGSS home page.
All year round, there are other retailers you might be able to use for stationery, holidays, broadband and mobile phone contracts, insurance, cosmetics, outdoor gear, energy providers, national lottery tickets, Ticketmaster for concerts and events, etc. Have a look at the A-Z list to see which retailers you normally buy from and if you use them anyway, please save the website, www.buy.at/AGSS in your Favourites and make your online purchases through it to help the school.
If you go straight to the website, such as Amazon, without first going through the www.buy.at/AGSS site, the sale won't be tracked to the school so this is essential!
Thank you for your continued support.

Well done to Jan and Lou for all their hard work pulling a wonderful festive evening together.

AGSS Christmas Shopping Evening
The AGSS Christmas Shopping Evening was held on 24th November and parents and friends of AGSS enjoyed an evening of Christmas shopping with a wonderful selection of stalls selling jewellery, crafts, cards, handbags, specialist food items and more. There was also a bar and raffle on the evening and the total raised was over £900, which is fantastic.
Our thanks to Sam and Brigid for all their hard work in organising the event. Thanks also to stallholders and everyone who attended or contributed to the success of the evening in some way.
See you next year.
