As we are a state school we do not charge a fee for tuition.  Boarders pay only the cost of the boarding provision, thus making boarding at Adams ' Grammar School highly affordable at around a half to a third of the cost of an independent boarding school.

785 pupils attend Adams ' Grammar School, including 250 who are in our thriving Sixth Form. Around 100 of our students are boarders. We have three specialisms: we are a Technology College , a Language College and a Training School.

The Worshipful Company of Haberdashers are our Trustees.  In 1656 local benefactor and Haberdasher William Adams founded the school.  To this day the Haberdashers’ Company maintains a close involvement with our school.

Headmaster Jim Richardson has four personal aspirations for all his pupils:

"I want them to be academically ambitious, hardworking and successful.

I want to develop in them an intellectual interest and curiosity in their
           studies.

I want to see them involved in a wide range of extra curricular activity.

I want them to aspire to the highest values and standards of behaviour."

We have a commitment to academic excellence but we also believe good schools go beyond that; we aim to educate the whole person, producing a fully rounded individual.  We know that if we provide a good quality education, take a close interest in each individual and provide an extensive and challenging array of extra curricular activity then we will produce a well rounded person able and keen to fulfil their potential in all aspects of life.

Our educational philosophy is one of "enlightened traditionalism".  We are extremely proud of our long history and traditions and acknowledge their importance in shaping the school we are today, but at the same time we are forward looking, using the latest teaching methods and technology to prepare our young people to play a useful and leading role in modern society beyond the classroom.

If you share our philosophy and aspirations and would like to be part of our community we invite you to browse further around our website, request a prospectus but best of all come along and visit Adams' Grammar School.  We would love you to meet our students, who are our best ambassadors, and we would welcome the opportunity to show you around.  Just telephone us and we will make all the necessary arrangements.
