Welcome to the Adams’ Grammar School Society

Fundraising and social events

The Adams’ Grammar School Society (AGS Society) is an enthusiastic and active committee comprising both parents and school staff. The AGS Society aims to raise much needed funds for additional equipment and resources for students of the school. It does this through organising a wide variety of fundraising and social events.

As a result of our fundraising efforts, we have been able to purchase a number of items for the school as well as contributing significantly to a recent school campaign for new facilities.  Examples of some of our recent contributions can be seen here.

If you would like to find out more about our work, please contact a member of the AGS Society at admin@agssociety.org.uk

How you can help?

There are lots of ways you can support the AGS Society. Here are just a few:

Join the AGS Society

We are always looking for new ideas about how we can raise funds for the school. We meet once a month to discuss current plans and new ideas. If you think you might be interested in joining, please feel free to come along to a meeting – new members are all very welcome. The dates of our meetings can be found on our Committee Meetings page.

Join our 100 Club

Our 100 Club is a monthly draw that provides cash prizes for three lucky winners. However, more importantly, the draw raises funds for school equipment and anyone wishing to support the school is welcome to become a member for just £2 a month. Read more.

Helping at school events

The AGS Society provides refreshments for many of the school’s events. This includes running a bar for some of the evening events such as Dixon Cup and serving food and beverages for pupils at events such as House Rugby and House Athletics. Help is always needed so even if you are only available for the odd event, your support will be very much appreciated. Sometimes we request donations such as cakes (cupcakes, brownies, flapjacks etc.) and raffle prizes, so if you are unable to help at an event but you would like to support us in another way, keep a look out for our email requests!

Supporting our fundraising events

Each year we organise a number of AGS Society events to help raise funds for the school. Volunteers are always needed to help with the organising and planning both before and on the night. Better still, buy a ticket and come along as a guest with friends and family: Our annual Summer Ball and Christmas Dinner Dance are wonderful evenings and we are very grateful to everyone who shows their support by attending. Our Events page contains more details on these events.

Donating unwanted AGS uniform

Any items of school uniform that your son or daughter no longer has a use for will be gratefully received for our second-hand school uniform shop which we operate from school on Friday afternoons. Clean items can be left at the school office or with Matron.

We are particularly keen to acquire maroon blazers, ties, jumpers, new style PE kit and rugby shirts, as well as the black shirts worn for musical performances.

Volunteers are always needed to staff the shop on a Friday afternoon, so if you feel you can spare an hour on the odd Friday afternoon then we’d love to hear from you. Please email: AGSSshop@gmail.com.

Shopping on-line through our fundraising web-shop

www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/agss

One of the ways you can help is by doing your on-line shopping through the above link. The site links to over 2,700 retailers including Amazon, Argos, Expedia and John Lewis, and when purchases are made via this link, the school receives a commission payment. It doesn’t cost you any more than buying on-line direct from the retailer and our pupils get to benefit.

Please save the link as one of your website favourites.

Mobile Phone Recycling

Fones4Schools is an excellent way to raise funds for the school so please dig out those old phones now! The AGS Society has two collection boxes – one in reception and the other in the library. The phones can be in any condition but please remove the SIM card and do not include any adaptors. Last year 36 phones were donated and recycled which raised a total of £90.00 for the school.

Funding requests – how we help the school

For funding requests, Adams’ staff should complete the Funding Request Form and submit it to the AGS Society for discussion at the next Committee meeting. The completed form can be emailed to admin@agssociety.org.uk  or left at the School Office for the attention of the AGS Society Treasurer.
