Each year the school awards a £500 commission to a pupil who is leaving to pursue a career in art. The commission is for a piece of work to be displayed in school and so acts as their first official commission, to help them on their professional path.

The 2016 winner was Ella Cope who has just completed an Art Foundation course at Oxford Brookes University. In September she will start a Design Engineering course at Imperial College. She chose to take inspiration for her piece from one of her favourite school events, House Cross-country.

Mr Hickey is delighted with the piece and particularly commented on how the different emotions the event inspires are reflected in the painting. A suitable home will be found for the painting and it, along with the other winners from previous years, will be on display around then school site for pupils to enjoy for generations to come.
